Paul Doyle is set to return to Liverpool Crown Court today, December 16, for the second and last day of his sentencing hearing. Doyle, 54, previously pleaded guilty to 31 offences relating to seriously injuring people during the victory parade of Liverpool FC in May.
More than 100 pedestrians, ranging from children to a 78-year-old woman, were injured after being struck by a Ford Galaxy on Water Street in Liverpool city centre, at about 6pm on Monday, May 26. Some 50 casualties required hospital treatment following the incident. As the prosecution was due to start its case against Doyle during a trial in November, the ex-Royal Marine changed his pleas to guilty. He admitted dangerous driving, affray, 17 charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, nine counts of causing GBH with intent and three counts of wounding with intent last month.
