A pervert who was caught masturbating in front of a woman on a train has been jailed for one year and eight months. Igor Borges, 29, sat across the aisle from the woman, exposed himself and started to pleasure himself as he stared at his victim on board the service from London Bridge to West Croydon at about 9am on September 1.

Creepy Borges, of Nether Street, Barnet, north London, put his fingers to his lips in a gesture urging the woman not to tell anyone as she called 999. He kept apologising as he pursued her through the train after she got up from her seat and moved away from the lech.

Other passengers stopped Borges following her after she told them what was happening and he got off the train at West Croydon.

British Transport Police detectives used CCTV from the train to identify Borges, who was already subject to a sexual harm prevention order.

Borges' sexual harm prevention order was imposed in August 2023. It banned him from approaching any female not known to him in a public place.

He was arrested at his home two weeks after the sickening offence, according to the force.

On arrest, Borges denied it was him, telling officers they had got it wrong. He later claimed he thought he was on his own in the carriage.

But he changed his plea from not guilty to guilty because of the "strong" case built against him, according to the police.

Borges was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court on Monday, February 2 after pleading guilty to Exposure and breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years and pay a victim surcharge.

Det Con Karim Omer said: "This is not the first time Borges has been caught for a crime like this and his far-fetched excuse that he was alone on a train in Central London at 9am did not wash with us.

"It is thanks to the courage of the victim in reporting his disgusting actions that we have been able to bring him before the courts and put him behind bars. I hope this sentence provides the victim a sense of closure."

Mr Omer said: "If you experience or witness a sexual offence on-board a train or at a station, I urge you to report it to us by texting 61016.

"We take every report seriously and will stop at nothing to bring sexual offenders like Borges to justice."
