Davina McCall has spoken candidly about the guilt she experienced after believing she had "hurt" her co-star Jamie Theakston, prior to his cancer diagnosis. In 2024, the pair endured separate health battles, with Jamie fighting stage one laryngeal cancer while Davina underwent surgery for a benign tumour called a colloid cyst.
Reunited on Heart Radio Breakfast on Friday, the duo reflected on their turbulent couple of years and how they offered each other support throughout their respective health scares.
Casting her mind back to Jamie's diagnosis, Davina, 58, confessed she initially felt responsible after a firm hug she gave him caused pain in his throat.
During the same period, listeners also flagged concerns about a noticeable change in Jamie's voice, prompting him to seek medical advice and ultimately receive his diagnosis.

Speaking openly about their ordeals on air, Davina said: "We've been on quite a journey, you and me.
"Honestly, when I got you in that sort of grip where I hurt your throat and you found out it was cancer, I carried that burden where I thought I'd hurt you for quite a long time," she admitted.
Jamie, however, was quick to reassure her that the moment had ultimately worked in his favour.
"Well no, because as I always said, if you hadn't have done that, I would never have known," he replied.
Having returned to the studio in 2025 following his surgery, the 55-year-old suggested that, in hindsight, Davina may well have helped save his life.
"Without you doing that, I would not have known there was something wrong with my throat," he explained. "So, in actual fact, it wasn't that you did any damage - it was the opposite."

Jamie also took the opportunity to urge listeners to take potential symptoms seriously.
"Ignoring cancer won't beat it. Cancer loves being ignored. It's a coward that lives in the shadows, and I think that, if we can shine a light on that, then we can defeat the darkness.
"If we just get ourselves checked, then a stage one diagnosis - which is what I was very fortunate enough to have - shouldn't be a problem. But I do urge you to go and get checked," he added.
Meanwhile, Davina also shared an update regarding her own recovery, following surgery for her brain tumour and a recent breast cancer diagnosis.
Reflecting on the moment she received the devastating news, she said: "It felt like being punched in the face by the universe. I just thought, what? I was just beginning to feel myself again."
She added that her experience serves as a vital reminder for women to carry out regular self-examinations.
"I found a lump myself and I had had a mammogram in the August. It was in October that I found a lump, so don't just think, 'I had a mammogram recently, it can't be that' - it could be.
"If you've got something, go and get it looked at. It takes seconds," she cautioned.
When asked how she is currently feeling, the former Big Brother host disclosed that a recent scan confirmed there was "nothing there".
