
A teenage boy has died as he was swimming in a pond in Swanscombe. Police were called to Galley Hill Road in the Kent town on the afternoon of May 27, to report of concern for a swimmer in the local pond.
A large search and rescue operation was launched, involving also Kent Fire and Rescue Service and the South East Coast Ambulance Service. On Thursday morning, Kent Police issued an update, saying the body of a teen had been found. The police statement read: "Kent Police was called to Galley Hill Road in Swanscombe at 2.55pm on Wednesday 27 May 2026 following a report of concern for a swimmer in a pond.
"Officers attended along with the Kent Fire and Rescue Service and the South East Coast Ambulance Service, where the body of a teenage boy was recovered.
"His death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and a report will be prepared for the coroner."
