Beloved British entertainment retailer HMV is set to make a triumphant return to a UK city with a brand new store opening this week.

The iconic brand will launch a new outlet at Meadows Shopping Centre in the coming days.

The arrival of the new shop in Chelmsford marks a thrilling comeback to the area for HMV, following the company's fall into administration back in 2018.

The retailer previously operated a store in the High Chelmer Shopping Centre, which shut its doors in 2024 after more than two decades of trading.

That store had welcomed a host of major music names through its doors, including Eurovision star Sam Ryder.

The new location will open its doors to shoppers on Friday, 26th June.

The 3,930 square foot unit will stock over 20,000 different products, transforming the way fans discover music, film, and TV, with an unrivalled selection spanning pop culture merchandise, music, technology, and literature.

Customers will be able to browse more than 3,000 vinyl albums, alongside 5,500 films and TV shows available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD.

An extensive array of collectable merchandise will also be on offer across popular franchises including Star Wars, KPop Demon Hunters, and Funko POP.

At the grand opening, the first 25 customers to make a purchase will receive an exclusive goodie bag packed with must have pop culture merchandise.

Shoppers will also be able to utilise the 'hmv delivers' service when visiting the store, ordering any items directly to their door that are not currently available in store.
