Susan Boyle has become entangled in a planning row, as a huge AI data centre plans to move into a business park close to her new home. Susan was famed for remaining in the former council house she grew up in, and later purchased for £65,000, despite earning millions from her Britain’s Got Talent stint. Though she later purchased a £300,000 “Posh House”, Susan struggled to feel at home there and moved back out, instead allowing her niece to live in the new property.
Susan then moved back into her council house, but also purchased the property next door – allowing her to combine the two properties into her dream home for an extra £110,000. In March 2026, however, she relocated again to take up resident in Larbert, near Falkirk, where her assistant Geraldine Easton lives.
And now Susan’s new property has seen around 200 people gathering to protest a development by Aptura at Glenbervie Business Park, which would see a 300MW base built – raising fears of noise and air pollution, as well as increased traffic to the area.
The property would be located close to homes and the Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
Susan’s manager Geraldine said: “People need to actually realise that these things go so much further than just what they are. It is the impact on everybody all around.
“The bottom line is these are huge hyper data centres and they are going to take up all these beautiful places in Scotland.
“They are putting them in populated areas. Our children come first. We are right across from a hospital and this is going to draw up energy and water.”
Steve Hinge of the Forth Valley Climate Action Hub added: “There are so many unknowns. There are so many concerns and questions that as yet have not been answered. […] The residents here really feel it is a carbon emitter. It is using diesel generators and huge resources like water.”
