Drag Race star Misua, real name Jason Elvie Ty, died in their sleep on Thursday, April 2, aged just 27. No official cause of death has been revealed as yet, but the news was confirmed by World of Wonder, the production team behind Drag Race. In a statement, they said: "We are heartbroken to share that Misua, a talented queen set to appear on season four of Drag Race Philippines, passed away in her sleep the morning of April 2. She brought light, artistry, and joy to those around her, and she will be deeply missed.

"We have paused production to care for and support our cast and crew during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who loved her. We are in contact with her family, who have asked for privacy during this hard time." Misua's family also shared a tribute to the star, who had been performing for eight years. Her name was inspired by her grandfather's favourite comfort food.

Taking to Facebook they penned: "Jayson was our dearly loved son, brother, friend, mentor, and most of all, Jayson is a star. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and close friends."

Her family also shared extracts from her journal, which detailed her excitement at taking part in the iconic show. One heartbreaking motivational note read: "You are gonna win this season".

Another extract read: "I have moved on to the 3rd stage of the audition process, and I am very excited. Tonight, I am going to meet with Doc Randy for my Psych Evaluation.

"I am very nervous, like any other person would be. I think this is the last stage, and I don't want to let the people who support me down. I am excited for what's about to come, and I am very positive that things will turn out great."

Paying tribute, fellow queen Maharlika wrote: "I still can't wrap my head around it. I feel so blessed to have met you in this lifetime."

Other tributes also flooded in as the news broke. One fan took to Facebook to share: "Misua, Jayson…. I couldn’t process this sudden news… You will be missed. I’m happy to know and meet you in this lifetime. You are such a talented person."

Another chimed in: "Rest in Power Queen! It's a shame the world didn't get to know you sooner." A third added: "Rest in power Queen, the World for sure will know your legacy."

"She was about to chase her dream. Rest in peace, our forever icon!" a fourth lamented. Meanwhile, a fifth commented: "Feeling sad for you, Jayson. You left us early. May you rest in peace and be with God in heaven."
