Soap legend Marcy Walker "urgently" needs financial support as she deals with a serious health issue. The 64-year-old Emmy winning small screen icon who played Eden Capwell on Santa Barbara and Liza Colby on All My Children. When she left the role of Liza in 2005, which is her last on screen credit, she walked away from Hollywood accepting a position in Christian ministry based in Huntersville, North Carolina. Since then she has enjoyed a career working in various churches.

Despite this drastic change of role she is still beloved by fans of her work and recently participated in a livestream event with them. The star has now hit a serious health hurdle and a GoFundMe has been set up to raise badly needed funds. It has been set up by two of her fans and while her condition has not been revealed the page insists financial help is "urgently needed".

"Today, Marcy needs our help," it reads. "While she has spent years giving her time, energy, and heart to others - both as an actress and later through her dedicated ministry and community work - she is currently navigating an ongoing health issue where financial support is urgently needed."

At time of writing it has already raised $13,867 of a $15,000 target with 149 people donating.

Explaining how the money will be used the organisers wrote: "We want to surround Marcy with the same light and security she gave to us for so many years.

"Every single dollar raised through this page will go directly to Marcy to help cover her essential medical expenses, giving her the peace of mind she deserves."

A recent Santa Barbara reunion livestream event on June 7 also raised funds towards her medical expenses with her co-star A Martinez, who played her love interest Cruz Castillo in the ’80s soap, explaining why fans were being charged for it.

In a video on his Instagram page, he said: "Some folks have expressed disappointment over the cost. Now, out of respect for my partner's privacy, I did not speak to the reasons for the fee when first I posted.

"The fact is, Marcy has been ill and is working hard to get well, and in the process has come face to face with the financial challenges that so often plague those of us unlucky enough to need serious medical care in our country. She is in that need.

"We'll probably do a GoFundMe sometime over the summer, but the June 7 conversation will support our precious friend in a way that's both personal and I would imagine will end up being highly memorable for all of us... On behalf of both of us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering it."
