Streaming platform Prime Video's latest true crime documentary, Rolf Harris: Primetime Predator, examines the inexcusable actions of the Australian performer. The distressing two-part series investigates how, following decades of operating in plain sight, Harris ultimately faced justice, though his crimes left enduring scars on his victims.

In 2013, Rolf Harris, who was married to sculptor Alwen Hughes, faced 12 charges of indecent assault against underage girls, all of which he refuted. Following his conviction for offences committed between 1968 and 1986, the discredited performer received a prison sentence of five years and nine months in 2014, with the presiding judge, Mr Justice Sweeney, noting he had displayed "no remorse".

Rolf Harris walked free from Stafford Prison on licence following nearly three years behind bars, in 2017.

At that point, he faced trial for four additional charges of indecent assault, but was acquitted and received no additional custodial sentence.

Following his release, he resided in Bray, Berkshire, alongside his wife Alwen Hughes.

He was 84 years old when initially imprisoned and had reached his late 80s upon his release.

Rolf Harris died in May 2023 and according to his death certificate, the cause of death was neck cancer and "frailty of old age".

He passed away at his home in Bray, with a statement issued on behalf of his family reading: "This is to confirm that Rolf Harris recently died peacefully surrounded by family and friends and has now been laid to rest.

"They ask that you respect their privacy. No further comment will be made."

His wife Alwen, a sculptor and artist, passed away in the summer of 2024 at the age of 92, just over a year after her husband, following a stroke.

Harris arrived in London in 1952, aged 21, and went on to front a succession of children's television and variety programmes, as well as Animal Hospital. He was also notably responsible for painting a portrait of the late Queen to commemorate her 80th birthday in 2006.
