Piers Morgan is often vocal about Prince Harry after he stepped down as a senior royal in 2020. The Duke of Sussex is reportedly reconsidering bringing his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, son Archie, seven and daughter Lilibet, five, to the UK. It comes after the prince lost his bid for extra security when he returns to Britain this month.

The Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) turned down requests for protection just a week before Harry is due to arrive for a string of engagements. The 41-year-old wanted to bring his family for the week long trip where they also planned to meet King Charles and visit the final resting place of Princess Diana.

Piers, 61, reacted to the news just hours after it was revealed that no police protection would be provided for Harry's family. In a crushing one-word blow, the YouTube host tweeted: "Good."

In the post, shared on June 27, the presenter added: "Why the hell should we pay for his security?"

His 8.8 million followers flocked to comment as his remark sparked a huge divide on the X platform as some fans defended the royal.

One noted: "An odd one because I do see your point. But Harry was born into this, he didn’t choose royalty and fame so he deserves security. I know he opted out, but that still doesn’t stop him being a target in today’s world."

Another echoed: "He is the Son of the King and deserves a minimal level of Security. He still is in line for the Throne. He and Meghan are of 'Service' for humanity and although you may not care for them Piers, they are very good people/family."

"Because he didn't choose to be born a prince. The king should cover the costs," a third tweeted.

A fourth agreed with Piers, writing: "Why should we be paying for any of them? Let them fund their own smiling and waving activities."

A spokesperson for the duke said that Harry is continuing to look at "every available option" to "enable the visit to proceed safely".

In a bombshell report obtained by ITV News on Thursday (July 2) details dozens of threats and potential attacks facing the Duke of Sussex.

The US-based security firm employed by Harry and Meghan highlighted that “the highest priority threat" to the Sussex family "comes from stochastic terrorism (also known as grassroots or lone actor terrorism)”, according to the news outlet.
